| History of Le Studio |
|
Le Studio was founded in 1979 by twin brothers, Charles and Philip Fuller, as a professional dance school offering comprehensive study to all students, regardless of their ability or reasons for study. Alumni are continuously found in major dance companies and related fields throughout the United States. In 1981, Philip accepted the invitation of Evelyn LeMone, founding Artistic Director of Pasadena Dance Theatre, to serve as PDT's Co-Artistic Director with Charles as Executive Director. Subsequently from 1981 through 1995, Le Studio was the home and official school of PDT. In 1995, knowing the importance of Pilates exerecise for both the dancer and non-dancer, Le Studio established one of the first comprehensive Pilates program in the Pasadena area, which a year later was relocated to Le Studio Fitness, a separate facility located one half mile north of Le Studio Dance. In 1996, the Fullers, wanting to pursue their own artistic vision, founded DanceCorps, whereupon it became Le Studio's resident dance campany with Le Studio as its official school. In 2006, ownership of Le Studio was passed to new owners Michael Marsh and Mary Dousette-Marsh, owners and founders of Generation Dance Center in La Canada Flintridge. After four successful years establishing GDC in La Canada, community renovations forced them to relocate their dance facility to a new location. This need to relocate coincided with the Fuller's desire to move to Florida to care for their parents, thus the merger of these two dance studios happened in September 2006. The mission of both of these studios has been and remains to provide a professional dance program that offers quality inbstruction to all students, regardless of their ability or their goals as a dancer. Le Studio is excited to premier their Junior Ballet Company in the 2007/2008 season! Along side of this newly emerging company is the incorporation of Studio 57 which is offered for students interested in performing and/or competing in jazz, lyrical, and other dance styles. These two exciting new companies will provide pre-professional training not only for students who are interested in pursuing careers as dancers or choreographers but also for those who simply enjoy performing and dancing. Auditions are required for all positions. For more information about either program, contact the Le Studio office. February 2009 Le Studio welcomes "FRIT AND FRAT FULLER" as creative directors in charge of overseeing both the ballet & jazz divisions at Le Studio/Studio 57. LA's well known choreographers, performers and instructors Frit and Frat Fuller brings you Studio 57 at 57 Palmetto Pasadena Ca. 91105. Studio 57 Offers a variety of classes ranging from Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Tap, Hip Hop, Cultural, Social and Competitive Dance as well as Master Classes from some of LA's top instructors and choreographers.
